Evergreen Golf Club is dedicated to giving you a premier golfing experience, and part of that experience is in the atmosphere they create. They recognized the value in investing in landscaping that would enhance the style of their new clubhouse. The materials, colors and textures used were selected to blend the landscape and the building together, making them flow as one unit.
The layout of the landscaping at the Evergreen Golf Club needed to accommodate vehicle, pedestrian and cart traffic. Curbs and planting beds were used to separate the types of traffic flow and break up large areas of pavement.
Ornamental trees and post lighting help to create a human scale as visitors come in from the parking lot. The layout also established a direct connection between the old and new clubhouse. The entry is framed by plantings that highlight the colors on the building and guide visitors into the main entry of the clubhouse.
Challenging grade changes around the backside of the building led to some creative design solutions. The Chilton weathered-edge stone on the façade of the building was also used to construct the walls and planting terraces. Outcropping stone was used to give the walls the mass and substance they needed to match the scale of the building in a golf course setting.
The design accommodated an upper walkway to the outdoor patio without disrupting the cart path traffic below. Changing the paving material designated the transition between pedestrian space and cart traffic.
The terraces transformed an unmanageable slope to a multi-season showcase of color that is visible from Highway 12. The hillside is constantly changing as plants go in and out of bloom. The seasonal changes create a dynamic environment that is a little different with each visit.
